Sample answer

Living in a city isn’t exactly my favourite thing to do. But, since a city is where I grew up and spent most of my life, I just don’t have much of an option to leave the city and permanently settle in a village. But I love the village, I really do, so I try to get out of city life and travel to a village just I did about a year ago or so.

The village is located about a couple of hundred kilometers away from the town where I live. I remember travelling to this village a couple of times in my childhood as my father had taken me there to visit one of his childhood friends from high school. By the way, this childhood friend of my father, who I passionately call XXX uncle, has always been good to me and treated me like one of his sons.

In fact, I would never forget those childhood days of mine when he would visit our home and brought me all kinds of goodies and gifts for me. One day, when I got an opportunity to meet that dear uncle of mine after so many years, I just didn’t want to let that opportunity pass. So, as soon as I heard from my uncle, I immediately bought a train ticket and decided to use my long holiday to meet with a very favourite person of mine.

Anyway, after arriving that village of my uncle after such a long time, I felt like my childhood time is brought back to me once again as I found the same beautiful and green village. I also liked the fact that the ponds, where I swam once, were still there. Besides, I could still see the same roads on which I walked and ran except, of course, they were wider and paved with pitch. All in all, it was a great experience.

Part 3

1. Is there anything special about the villages in Vietnam?

Yes, there is. In many villages, traditional culture and customs are well preserved. Local people attach much importance to Vietnamese festivals and celebrate them in a unique way. Compared with people in the cities, those who live in villages lead a healthier and less stressful lifestyle. What’s more, the relationship among neighbors is simple and close. People in the same village always help each other whenever necessary.

2. Why do people want to go to the countryside?

Nowadays, many people are under a lot of pressure, either from their work or family. When going to the countryside, they can escape from their stress temporarily and have a good rest. Another reason is that the air pollution and noise pollution in the cities are relatively terrible. People want to breathe fresh air and get close to nature in the countryside. Some people go to have a picnic or barbecue, which is also a good way to socialize.

3. What do people usually do when going to a village?

There is a wide variety of things that people can do in a village. In some villages, interesting activities are organized to attract tourists. For example, people can go fishing in the river, do farm work with the villagers, feed animals on the farm and make snacks or handcraft. Most importantly, they can eat fresh and clean food in the village or have a barbecue with their friends. Also, people can enjoy the natural scenery, breathe the fresh air and embrace the peaceful moment.

4. Do you think people will live in the village in the future?

Actually, it is hard to say. It depends on the situation of the village. In the future, if the village is well developed and has all kinds of public facilities, people may be willing to live there because there are many benefits of living in the village. For example, people can stay away from the noisy city and lead a peaceful and quiet life. They won’t be obsessed with trends and may live as simply and freely as they like. Also, people have more chances to do physical exercise. However, I think most people still prefer to live in the city instead of in the less developed villages.
